Helder Mota Filipe, President of the Portuguese Pharmaceutical Society, introduced the CT-Luso project at the public presentation session of the Lusophone Platform for Clinical Research and Biomedial Innovation (PLICIB) which took place on June 26th, at the Institute of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine – NOVA University of Lisbon.

PLICIB is a program of the Agency for Clinical Research and Biomedical Innovation (AICIB), with the support of the Faculty of Sciences and Technologies and co-financed by the European & Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP3), whose main objective is to promote a proactive intervention of Portuguese scientific community in Portuguese-speaking African Countries (PSAC) and neighbouring countries.

The Lusophone Platform is contributing to strengthening cooperation between the national scientific community and Africa (in particular with the PSAC), to promote the development of human and infrastructural capabilities in the area of Clinical Research and Biomedical Innovation and making the participation of the PSAC more active in EDCTP. In this session, the work developed to date and the strategy of the Lusophone platform for the coming years were presented.

The president highlighted the importance that the CT-Luso project has for the construction and strengthening of the lusophone cluster in biomedical research and clinical trials - a true community of interests, multidisciplinary, with multidimensional benefits that go beyond the duration of the project.
