The first official meeting of the CT Luso, held online on 13 September, marked the formal start of the project and the launch of its activities. The meeting was an opportunity to deepen the objectives and align the action plans for the next six months.
‘This is the first of many opportunities we're going to have to work together,’ said Helder Mota Filipe, president of the Portuguese Pharmaceutical Association (Ordem dos Farmacêuticos), CT-Luso's coordinating body.
During the session, Maria do Céu Patrão Neves, responsible for leading the project and moderating the meeting, gave a virtual tour of the CT Luso website and introduced the leaders of the different Work Packages (WP). Each of them then shared their expectations regarding the development of the initiatives.
The start-up of CT Luso also involved the alignment of strategies for the first WP (1,2 and 3). Carla Barbosa, from the Biomedical Law Centre, pointed out that the first phase will consist of surveying and analysing the legislative reality of the various countries involved, with the ultimate aim of contributing to a ‘robust, harmonised and internationally recognised legislative framework’.
Esperança Sevene, from Mozambique's National Bioethics Committee for Health, presented the training programme and proposals for the eligibility criteria for trainees.
At the end of the meeting, Ricardo Santos, secretary general of the Order of Pharmacists, outlined the guidelines for the digital platform, the quality and data management plan, the open science strategy and intellectual property rights.
This first official meeting followed the presentation session of the CT Luso project, held on 4 April, in a hybrid model, in Mozambique and online.
