At the 7th monthly coordination meeting of CT-Luso, held on 5 March 2025, the latest developments in the project were presented and the next actions were defined.
At the opening, Helder Mota Filipe, president of the Portuguese Pharmaceutical Association, emphasised that the work is progressing well and that the deadlines for submitting deliverables to the European Commission are being met.
Carla Barbosa, from the Biomedical Law Centre, who leads Action Plan (WP) 3, explained that the final version of the legislative dossier and the organisational chart that systematises relations between the National Regulatory Authorities and the Research Ethics Committees have been completed. The conclusions of these documents will serve as a basis for future legislative recommendations.
Professor Lúcia Domingues, from Nova Medical School, who is responsible for the Training Programme, gave an assessment of the third training module, highlighting the wide participation of the trainees in the classes and the interest shown in the subjects taught. Together with the CT Luso project's consultant, Maria Alexandra Ribeiro, the fourth training module was also introduced, focussing on ‘Public Health Issues and Infectious Diseases’, detailing its content and introducing the lecturers responsible.
The meeting also covered the organisation of the workshop to discuss the results of Action Plan (WP) 3 - legislative mapping and ethical and legal criteria for clinical trials in Portuguese-speaking countries, scheduled for 17 and 18 September 2025.
Esperança Sevene, the project's scientific leader, gave an update on the submission and dissemination of various deliverables on the project website, including the Quality Management Plan, the Open Science Strategy and the Results Dissemination Plan.
Finally, the submission of an abstract for the 12th EDCTP Forum, which will take place in Rwanda between 15 and 20 June 2025, was discussed, with the aim of strengthening CT-Luso's international presence.
The meeting reaffirmed the project's commitment to quality training, ethical regulation and the dissemination of knowledge in the biomedical field.
