Representatives of the CT-Luso project met on April 16 with officials from the Angolan Embassy in Lisbon, in a meeting that strengthened cooperation between both parties and identified ways to deepen joint efforts in the fields of research and clinical trials. The CT-Luso delegation was composed of Maria do Céu Patrão Neves, Hélder Mota Filipe, and Catarina Sobrinho.
The delegation was received by Minister-Counsellor Henrique Assis and First Secretary Herlander Velhas. During the meeting, the CT-Luso project and its development goals were presented, with particular emphasis on institutional capacity building and the strengthening of regulatory and ethical systems.
The CT-Luso representatives highlighted Angola’s strong participation in the predecessor project, BERC-Luso, noting the progress made in structuring national authorities in the areas of medicines and ethics.
During the meeting, the Minister-Counsellor shared the ongoing follow-up efforts by the Embassy, including coordination with Angola’s Ministry of Health, and expressed full support for CT-Luso.
It was also agreed to draft a protocol aimed at reinforcing the connection between CT-Luso and Angolan institutions relevant to the project's scope of work.
