CT-Luso took the initiative to organize the Project Kick-off meeting, on April 4th, in Maputo, Mozambique, with the participation of all leaders of the different Action Programs and their respective work teams, involving 10 of the 24 institutions of the 6 Portuguese-speaking countries that make up CT-Luso.
After welcoming everyone present, Helder Mota Filipe, President of the Portuguese Pharmaceutical Society (PT), followed by the general presentation of CT-Luso and the rationale for the successive Action Programs, by Maria do Céu Patrão Neves, coordinator of the Project (PT). Each of the Action Programs was presented by their respective leaders: Helder Mota Filipe (WP1), Esperança Sevene (WP2), André Dias Pereira, from the Center for Biomedical Law at the University of Coimbra (WP3), Lúcia Domingues and Jahit Sacarlal, respectively from Faculties of Medicine of the Universidade Nova and the Eduardo Mondlane University, Fernando Almeida and Sérgio Chicumbe, from the National Institutes of Health of Portugal and Mozambique (WP5), Maria Alexandra Ribeiro, from the Ethics Committee for Clinical Research, and Esperança Sevene, from the National Committee on Bioethics in Health (WP 6), Rui Santos Ivo and Tânia Sitoe from the National Medicines Regulatory Authorities of Portugal and Mozambique (WP7), Maria Alexandra Ribeiro (WP7) and Ana Sofia Calaça, Communication Advisor (WP8).
The main objectives of this session were: to facilitate mutual understanding of all researchers and professionals involved in the project; provide each partner with a better understanding of the general aspect of the project, its dynamics and interactions, through the presentation of each of the Action Programs by their respective leaders; publicize the project beyond the many partners involved to begin to enhance future synergies.
