CT-Luso organized a roundtable dedicated to the theme “The importance of carrying out clinical trials for the development of countries”, which took place in Maputo, Mozambique, on April 4th, and whose objectives were presented by Esperança Sevene, President of National Committee for Bioethics in Health (MZ), and Helder Mota Filipe President of the Portuguese Pharmaceutical Society (PT).
This roundtable, moderated by Maria do Céu Patrão Neves, coordinator of CT-Luso, and Tânia Sitoe, President of the National Medicines Regulatory Authority (Anarme IP), included the participation of Albertino Damasceno, Professor at the Faculty of Medicine from Eduardo Mondlane University (MZ), Maria Alexandra Ribeiro, President of the Ethics Committee for Clinical Research (PT) and Bindiya Meggi, Head of the Clinical Research Division of the National Institute of Health (MZ), who reflected on the proposed topic, specifically about what each one considers to be the direct and indirect gains, for their own country, arising from the carrying out of Clinical Trials based on their different academic-scientific training and also their distinct professional experience in this field resulting from the different functions they have exercised.
A lively debate followed with a large audience, made up essentially of researchers and health professionals.
